Swedish Massage is designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation, this is done through the use of five basic strokes, all flowing towards the heart. With the application of oil the therapist will use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and taping movements. The many benefits of Swedish Massage may include relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling form injury.
Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as the neck, shoulders and lower back. The therapist often uses direct pressure or friction across the grain of the muscles to physically break down adhesions to relieve pain and restore movement in that area.
Studies indicate that massage therapy during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve aches and pains and improve labour outcome. Swedish massage is the recommended method during pregnancy because it addresses discomforts associated with hormonal shifts. Many professionals consider the best position for massage during pregnancy is side-lying.
Sports Massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. Sports massage can be useful pre-event (on site with the athlete fully clothed to establish blood flow and to warm up the muscles), post-event (on site to calm the system and help begin the process of flushing toxins out of the body), and/or for injury treatment (off site to help speed recovery and improve quality of healing).
Stretching Massage is useful to increase muscular range of motion and reduce pain. The therapist will stretch the clients muscles during the massage to counteract tension or contraction due to shortening caused by work or exercise. Once the contraction has been relaxed, normal circulation is restored and the muscles can rest.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is an advanced form of soft tissue treatment. It uses instruments specifically designed to locate and manipulate soft tissue restrictions. IASTM instruments amplify tactile sensation, which facilitates the location and treatment of fascial abnormalities. According to current research, IASTM can increase vascular response and proliferate fibroblast activity which can remodel collagen fibres and reduce scar tissue. IASTM can improve range of motion, strength and pain perception. IASTM is not aggressive and does not cause excessive tissue damage. It is easily integrated with massage therapy to provide safe and effective soft tissue mobilization.
The myofascial release approach is a form of soft tissue therapy through the use of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system.
Aromatherapy uses essential oils (extracted from plant material) to help relax the mind, improve the mood and increase the cognitive function of the the client.
Cupping stems all the way back to ancient China, and is a form of alternate medicine. We place plastic cups on the skin, and slowly draw the tissue up into the cup. The method that we practice is dry cupping. We do not use fire or glass cups. Cupping claims to treat many conditions, we treat mostly conditions that involve the muscle fascia beneath the skin.
Trigger Point Massage targets knots and adhesions by applying pressure and forcing it to 'let go'. It is followed by strokes to increase circulation to flush toxins from the affected area.
Hot Stone Massage is a stress and tension relieving massage treatment, where warm stones are placed along your spine and other areas of your body. The treatment gently roles, and Kneads the stones into tight muscles and points of tension, pushing the heat deep within the tissue. You should come to Hot Stone massage prepared to relax, and breath, to calm and soothe your nervous system.
Includes Cupping, Gua Sha and Infrared Treatment (heat lamp)
The heat from the Infrared lamp will enhance blood circulation, and warm up your tissues in preparation for a deep tissue massage accompanied by cupping, and Gua Sha. The therapist will incorporate all of the modalities in a deeply relaxing and therapeutic treatment 90 minute session. Anyone who is suffering from severe Stress, Tension, Muscle Aches and Pain, Arthritis, Hyperactivity, Sleep Disorders, Chronic Illness or Disease, will greatly benefit from this treatment.
Laser Therapy is a virtually pain free form of photo therapy which involves the application of a low level laser light over the tissue to stimulate the area and amplify cellular activity. By targeting an injured or painful area, a signal is sent to the brain which triggers a natural increase in oxygen and blood flow to the affected area. This allows the healing process to begin at a much deeper level that previously could only be achieved with surgery or by masking the pain with medications.
